A store that sells only Spanish goods, but doesn’t need to advertise its presence on the internet, is something that is currently only seen in the UK and the US.
But in the Spanish-speaking world, this store is known as movado, which means “store” in Spanish.
“We started with Movado as a store to sell only Spanish things, and then we started to sell everything else as well,” said José Maria Martinez, the store’s manager.
“And we even had a website for it, so it was an open market for our customers.”
Martinez said the company started selling Spanish items only after a certain number of people had contacted the store with their requests, and it has since grown to become the most visited store in Spain.
“That was the big change that happened in the beginning,” he said.
“People want to know more about our brand and what we do.
We have a lot of loyal customers, and we know that we can always help them.”
Movado’s website is also full of Spanish-language instructions and advice, with a number of Spanish speakers contributing to the site.
“There is an interest in knowing the product and it’s also important to know how to use our website, how to communicate with our customers and how to promote our brand,” Martinez said.
The store also offers the following: a range of products including fruit and vegetables; a collection of cooking ingredients; and the best in Spanish fashion.
“Our aim is to make sure that we sell as many products as possible and to show that our products are not only of great value but that they are not inferior to others,” Martinez added.
Martinez says the move has been well received, with customers asking for their business to be listed on Movado, and even making the shop the subject of online reviews.
“For us, it’s always about customer satisfaction, not just about revenue,” he added.
The Movado store also sells online, with the company offering free delivery and a range the store is currently selling.
The brand has also started to grow in other Spanish-speakers countries, with Martinez adding that Movado’s business in Mexico has grown to more than 30,000 members, and in Spain the store has seen growth of more than 500%.
