The Trump administration on Thursday announced a new strategy for dealing with the House of Representatives’ move to oust President Donald Trump from office.
House Republicans will move on impeachment this week with the support of just three members of the GOP leadership, House Speaker Paul Ryan and House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, the administration announced in a statement.
The House Judiciary Committee has until Tuesday to consider impeaching Trump for obstruction of justice, lying to Congress and other charges.
Trump’s former national security adviser Michael Flynn and former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort were among the Republican leaders who have endorsed a resolution to impeached Trump.
The president was acquitted of all charges in the impeachment case, which has been held since 2017.
